Mistake Number One – Not telling the parents

Over the next few weeks I will be blogging about the five biggest mistakes college students make when facing a disciplinary hearing. The first biggest mistake is not telling your parents. Students sometimes think that a hearing will just go away, or they can go to the hearing and nothing much will happen to them. Wrong! A disciplinary hearing can have disasterous results. It can mean expulsion, suspension, or removal from college housing. Don’t kid yourself by thinking that your parents won’t find out. They will! The only question is whether they will find out now, when they can help you, or later, after the hearing, when it is too late.

The smart thing to do is to tell your parents as soon as you think you may be in trouble. Let them help you.
