(Washington Post) – Hundreds of thousands of veterans are experiencing excessive delays as they await decisions on their disability claims. These veterans, as the New York Times reported last month, are being asked by the Department of Veterans Affairs to be patient while the VA attempts to transform its claims processes. The department is putting in place new processes and technology that it hopes will break the backlog of claims by 2015.
