Brandenton Herald – An estimated 500 veterans are arrested and fall into the judicial system every year in Manatee and Sarasota counties. Ed Brodsky, state attorney for the 12th Judicial Circuit, and local veteran advocates are investigating whether establishing a veterans court could help troubled vets facing charges for lower level, nonviolent crimes who don’t pose a risk to the community.
