ABC 10 News – Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin wants to get the veteran suicide rate down to zero. But a lot of the problem happens outside the reach of his department. Shulkin told reporters: “As you know, 20 veterans a day are dying by suicide. That should be unacceptable to all of us. … Of the 20 veterans a day that are taking their life through suicide, six are getting their care in the VA system and 14 aren’t.”
