If you have LTD insurance with the State of Connecticut, you should be aware of provisions which are in the policy by The Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Company. The maximum monthly benefit is $5,000.00. Your particular monthly benefit is a percentage of your earnings; either 50% or 60%. Not all earnings are counted. Bonuses and commissions do not count. Neither does overtime pay, fringe benefits or extra compensation.
If you are a part-time employee, working at least 17.5 hours a weekly, you may be eligible for LTD coverage.
You will need to contribute to the cost of coverage.
There is an elimination period. This is a waiting period where you do not receive LTD benefits. It is usually 90 or 180 days.
You should enroll in the LTD plan within 60 days after you are eligible to do so. If you do not enroll at that time, the policy will require you to provide evidence of insurability.
